Biology EOCs Are Quickly Approaching

An end-of-course (EOC) exam is a significant test of one's knowledge over a particular subject.
The purpose of these exams, as outlined by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), is to measure student achievement and progress toward postsecondary readiness, to identify students' strengths and weaknesses, to communicate expectations for all students, prepare students and schools for meeting state and national accountability requirements, to allow classroom teachers to incorporate statewide assessments into students' course grades, and to evaluate educational programs offered by Missouri schools.

EOC for Biology will be given during the first week of May to all students enrolled in Biology. The test consists of one session of multiple-choice items. The test is designed to be administered in one 55-minute period; however, students will not be timed and are allowed additional time to complete a test session if necessary. We will be administering the Biology EOC online.

Students are not required to pass the EOC prior to graduation but the EOC does count as up to 10% of the student's overall second semester grade in Biology.

I want to encourage parents and students both to visit the following DESE links as a resource for end-of-course exams for Biology. If you would like more information you might consider visiting DESE's website at www.dese.mo.gov.
